What’s Odin Law & Media Playing? (Fall 2022)

As a law firm that primarily works with video game companies, everyone on staff is a gamer in their own right. Here’s what we’ve been playing this fall of 2022:

Brandon J. Huffman, Attorney & Founder

Aperture Desk Job by Valve (Steam Deck)

I got a Steam Deck so I started playing Aperture Desk Job – I really enjoy the Deck so far. I also picked up Valheim and reinstalled Stardew Valley. I already have Stardew Valley on the Switch too but let’s ignore that fact…

We got our son Max Kirby and the Forgotten Land for his birthday on the Nintendo Switch and we checked out Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Amanda Whorton, Attorney

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion by Isaac Childres (Tabletop)

Been playing Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion with a friend, which has been incredibly fun and challenging. I was worried it was going to be a little too complex, but we’ve enjoyed it. It’s very D&D in some ways.

And of course I’ve been playing D&D! It’s allowed me some creative space and has been very therapeutic for me lately, in dealing with a loss in the family.

Ryan Fairchild, Attorney

Chrono Trigger by Square (SNES)

Been replaying Chrono Trigger with my kids on the SNES they purchased for me as a gift! Also we picked up the board game Wingspan and we have been playing that a ton.

Laura Yanka, Attorney

Potion Permit by MassHive Media (Steam Deck)

I’ve been playing on my Steam Deck a lot. Potion Permit has been great, and to fit the spooky season I started a game called Graveyard Keeper which is kind of like Stardew Valley except you harvest parts from corpses to sell and craft from and your main goal is to restore the graveyard so you can go home (there are isekai elements at play).

Connor Richards, Attorney

Marvel Snap by Nuverse (PC)

I’ve been playing Marvel Snap, which is a card game that recently came out from the devs that made Hearthstone. I’m not usually a card game guy, but the concept is unique so it’s been fun. I also recently finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and have started playing WoW a little again to prepare for Dragonflight.

Michele K. Robichaux, Attorney

What the Golf by Triband (Nintendo Switch)

What the Golf is an awesome mix of fun Dad jokes and general ridiculousness. This is the best time I’ve ever had playing a golf game. The shenanigans are absolutely perfect for me these days. I also picked up Cozy Grove by Spry Fox but haven’t gotten to dive into it as much yet.

Amber Stoll, Office Manager

Hollow Knight by Team Cherry (Nintendo Switch)

I’ve been playing Hollow Knight and loving the atmosphere. It’s mostly relaxed and feels cozy with a couple of tough battles and obstacles sprinkled in. I’m enjoying collecting charms with different abilities to try and love re-exploring the places I’ve been to see if I can discover anything new with the newer abilities I’ve acquired. It can feel a little repetitive in the beginning but I love finding new areas and the secrets I missed previously.

Jacob Barefoot, Administrative Assistant

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker by Soleil (PC)

Shinobi Striker is a multiplayer online battle arena game that allows the player to create their own ninja and earn rewards that can provide customization to their character’s look, abilities, and their gear. The game includes 4 different game modes to play with friends along with quick matches that are every person for themselves. Any fan of the anime will enjoy the nostalgia of seeing iconic characters around the village and completing missions by their side or sometimes versus them!

Megan Carriker, Strategy Advisor

OldWorld by Mohawk Games, Coral Island by Stairway Games (PC)

I’ve been cheating on my long-term love, Civ 5, with OldWorld – developed by one of the lead designers of Civ and Offworld Trading Company. If you love the beginning parts of Civ (which I do) and diving more into more ancient civilizations, you’ll probably enjoy this too.

And I’ve thoroughly loved Coral Island as a more diverse continuation of the Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon genre. The hippie in me is completely delighted with the ocean clean-up mechanics. I apologize for nothing.
