Layla Maurer, Attorney

Layla’s practice focuses on helping clients across the creative, gaming and technology industries structure practical transactions. Drawing on her background in IT, digital media and in-house counsel at Wizards of the Coast, she understands both the business and creative realities behind game development, publishing, licensing and distribution. She particularly enjoys untangling complex deals involving multiple rightsholders, shared creative control and the many moving pieces that bring projects to life.

Layla is admitted to practice in New York and Washington. She also teaches transactional drafting and video game law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

In the real world, you can find Layla singing in choirs and attending live industrial, alt, and Broadway performances. The intersection of systems, sorcery and sound is her happy place whether in games or her latest book or anime series, particularly if she finds a well-placed cat at the crossroads.
